About the association
Independent in spirit. Accountable in practice.
Elektronisen Musiikin Ystävät ry is a registered non-profit association in Finland, established to strengthen electronic music as an artistic, educational and community-based cultural field.
Who we are
A Finnish association built around participation.
Known in English as Friends of Electronic Music Association Finland, the association brings together people who care about electronic sound, creative technology, artist development and accessible cultural life. We recognise electronic music not as a narrow genre, but as a broad meeting point for composition, performance, production, visual culture, technology and collective experience.
Our registered home is in Huittinen, while our operational outlook extends across Finland. We seek partnerships and activities that connect local knowledge with wider artistic networks. This combination allows us to remain grounded in community needs while contributing to national cultural development.
As a non-profit association, our purpose is public and cultural rather than private or commercial. Resources connected with our activities are directed toward the association’s objectives: education, artistic opportunity, community participation and the responsible advancement of musical arts.
How we work
Local roots, national relevance.
Our approach begins with listening—to artists, learners, audiences and cultural partners. We develop activities that answer real creative needs and make specialist knowledge easier to reach.
Programming may include workshops, artist showcases, youth-centred creative activity, community gatherings and projects that document the evolving heritage of digital sound. Each initiative is shaped around accessibility, artistic integrity and responsible administration.
Governance & people
A human organisation with clear responsibilities.
The association is governed in accordance with applicable Finnish law, its registered rules and non-profit principles. Board and team information can be added when the association publishes the current appointments.
